Karbakeli Trek, a newly opened virgin eco route is getting popular among the short trekkers and hikers that provides the opportunity to explore the unexplored nature and culture of Myagdi district. The main highlight of the trek is the Karbakeli Than and Karbakeli Baba, the chief god of Pun community along with popular viewpoint Poon Hill, thickets of alpine jungles and the pulbari natural garden.
Karbakeli eco trek was launched as new trekking trail in Nepal on 18th May, 2018 jointly by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) director Kashi Raj Bhandari, Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) president Nava Raj Dahal, Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) General Secretary Kul Bahadur Gurung, Karbakeli Tourism Management Committee and Himalayan Map House managing director Pawan Shakya at Hotel Moonlight in Kathmandu Valley. The newly launched eco trek lies in the Annapurna Rural Community – 8 of Kafaldanda in Annapurna Region.
Karbakeli Eco trek starts from the famous sunrise trekking place; Poon Hill and follows the pass through Phulbari to Karbakeli Than and then the trip ends reaching Beni Bazaar. The trekking route is best for the panoramic views of Mt Dhaulagiri, Mt Machapuchhare, Mt Gurja and Mt Annapurna along with the mesmerizing views of alpine jungles and indigenous culture.
The main attraction Karbakeli Baba temple is located 2200m above sea level at Kafaldanda. The local people are getting united to include the temple in National Heritage Site and promoting the Karbakeli as a tourist destination.
